$1.75 Million Sexual Assault Settlement Reached for Special Needs Student

| Grant & Eisenhofer P.A. Civil Rights | Blog & News

A disabled student of special needs cooperative S.E.J.A. No. 802 and Homewood-Flossmoor High School District No. 233 in Illinois reached a $1.75 million settlement to resolve allegations of sexual abuse. The student, 21 years old at the time of the abuse, alleged that another student sexually assaulted her twice at the facility in 2016. She also contends that employees of the facility knew that her abuser had behavioral issues and a tendency for acting out in a sexual manner, but was placed at the school anyway, posing a serious risk to students at the academy. Grant & Eisenhofer’s civil rights attorneys can help you determine if you have legal options to file a sexual harassment or sexual assault lawsuit.
