$18 Million Discrimination and Sexual Harassment Settlement Close to Approval with Activision Blizzard

| Grant & Eisenhofer P.A. Civil Rights | Blog & News

An $18 million discrimination settlement between the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and video game company Activision Blizzard is close to receiving judicial approval after the presiding judge indicated she was likely to accept the deal with minor modifications. The EEOC’s investigation and lawsuit alleges that Activism violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act by discriminating against female employees and retaliating against those female employees that made complaints about the unlawful conduct.  The settlement was reached in September 2021, when the gaming company agreed to use the funds to compensate female employees who claimed pay bias and sexual harassment by the Company and its employees.  The agreement also includes provisions for Activision to revamp internal policies surrounding harassment and sexism.
