Another Black Tesla Employee Files Harassment, Retaliation Suit
Another Black Tesla production worker has sued the company for discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, alleging mistreatment from her supervisor. The lawsuit describes a hostile working environment where the Tesla employee was repeatedly referred to as certain racial slurs. The plaintiff also describes racial slurs were written on the walls of the factory’s restrooms and other racist comments were made by her supervisor. The Tesla employee further contends that she was disciplined more severely than her non-Black co-workers, and given physically heavy workloads that were designed for multiple people. When she complained of the difficult workload, the lawsuit claims, she was ignored by her supervisor. The suit further claims that when the Tesla employee took some time off for sickness, she was placed on a 3-month leave.
Tesla is currently the subject of a lawsuit from California’s civil rights regulator accusing the company of widespread racial discrimination and harassment. Over 46 lawsuits have been filed against Tesla, accusing it of a sexist and racist work culture over the last five years.
