Google Resolves Discrimination Claims with $2.6 Million Settlement

| Grant & Eisenhofer P.A. Civil Rights | Blog & News

A $2.6 million settlement was reached on behalf of 5,500 employees and former job applicants at Google resolving job pay discrimination claims. Plaintiffs alleged that from 2014 and 2017, the search engine giant discriminated against female employees and employees of Asian descent in the states of California and Washington. Specifically, the plaintiffs alleged that Google was engaging in discrimination by paying female engineers less than male engineers in similar jobs.

Among other requirements, the settlement obliges Google to pay $1.35 million to its 2,500 female engineers and $1.23 million to 1,700 women and Asians who applied for engineering jobs at Google but ultimately were not selected.
