Loyola University Chicago Students Protest How the School Handles Title IX Claims 

Students at Loyola University Chicago have started to speak out about how the school handles reports of campus sexual misconduct. Many students feel that the school’s Title IX office has not taken adequate action to investigate sexual assault claims, saying the office takes too long to investigate allegations of sexual misconduct and all too often sides with the perpetrator.

In mid-September 2021, student activists staged a protest at the entrance to the school, chanting “No means no!” in an effort to get the attention of administrators. While the protest organizers believe the accused assailants deserve to be heard, students are lobbying for the accused to be removed from campus pending investigation.

Protests urging Title IX reform are happening with greater frequency around the United States. Students at many other colleges and universities have staged similar outcries to demand their reports of sexual misconduct be taken seriously and for the schools to adopt policy changes.
