State Lawmakers Want Improvements to LSU’s Title IX Sexual Assault Claims Processes

Louisiana state lawmakers have expressed concerns over Louisiana State University’s (“LSU”) Title IX office, including concerns over staffing and glitches in the LSU website for reporting cases of sexual assault and violence, which is also supposed to provide online resources meant to help sexual assault survivors seeking help. With no full-time permanent Title IX staff handling complaints of sexual abuse and college rape, students are forced to turn to LSU’s online website to report claims, but have been met with a website that has misinformation, broken links, and lack of resources. Lawmakers also raised concerns with the school’s lack of an official agreement between LSU and the local police department, which is meant to ease the sharing of information about sexual assault crimes among law enforcement groups.
