A 2016 bullying attack has left an Ankeny High School student with permanent brain damage. The Des Moines, IA student was awarded nearly $900,000 in a settlement with the school.
According to the lawsuit, Audrey Vacek was verbally bullied and threatened by another student for a year before the attack. She sustained permanent brain damage when her attacker punched her in the face and bashed her head into a concrete wall. Following the attack, Audrey now suffers from ongoing memory lapses and confusion. She was a straight-A student before the attack, and now she struggles to keep up with her classes.
