Teacher Sues School for Retaliation After Reporting Sexual Harassment
A 5th grade teacher is suing the school she used to work for in Utah. The teacher reported incidents of student sexual harassment, but claims she was retaliated against after doing so.
The lawsuit alleges violations of Title IX, among other claims, stemming from an alleged sexual assault incident that occurred in December 2020. According to the lawsuit, some female students in the teacher’s class told her that one of the boys was touching them inappropriately. The teacher reported the incident but the school principal allegedly made no efforts to investigate the complaints. Furthermore, the school retaliated against the teacher, transferring her to another school in what she felt was not an optional (or requested) move. The teacher is seeking lost wages and benefits, damages and legal fees, and a trial by jury.
