New Law Requires New York City to Disclose Pay in Job Ads

| Grant & Eisenhofer P.A. Civil Rights | Blog & News

A new salary disclosure law was recently passed, impacting businesses with employees in New York City. Under the new law, which goes into effect in May 2022, any employer with more than four employees in New York City who advertises a job must state the minimum and maximum salary offered for that position in the advertisement. This transparency in salary ranges may spark pay discrimination claims among employees who are equally qualified but receive a salary that is below or at the low end of the range. The new law may also inspire employers to review their recruiting and onboarding and processes as well as existing employee salaries to justify any ay differences.
