Protecting Your Civil Rights in a Post-Floyd World

| Grant & Eisenhofer P.A. Civil Rights | Blog & News

When George Floyd, an African-American man, was killed by a police officer during an arrest in Minneapolis, MN in May 2020, it set off a firestorm of protests. People objecting to the circumstances of his death, and to police violence against black people in general, organized protests across the United States and internationally. Reactions to Floyd’s death served as a catalyst to revive a decades-old civil rights movement, fueled by other recent events including the police shooting of Breonna Taylor, an unarmed African-American woman, just two months before.

As Americans, we cherish our civil rights to liberty and justice. However, thousands of individuals have their rights taken away on a regular basis. These actions not only hurt specific groups of individuals, but society as a whole. The racially fueled civil rights violations surrounding Floyd’s death have ignited a movement—a time for change—with more urgency than ever before.

At Grant & Eisenhofer, we aim for change by protecting your civil rights through litigation.
